IDP PROJECT- Internally Displaced Persons

Cameroon is made of two categories of people; the Anglophone minority and the francophone majority....
In October 2016 a protest began as a sit-in strike initiated by the Cameroon Anglophone civil society consortium (ACSC) consisting of lawyers and teachers trade unions from the Anglophone regions of Cameroon. And as time passed, the conflict became a deadly one with some civilians picking up arms against the Cameroonian army. This delay in the resolution of the Anglophone crises (as it is commonly called) has led to the loss of lives (in 2018, 2000 dead’s were recorded) and destruction of properties. Many residents of the northwest and southwest regions of the country have been left homeless (about 30 000 people) while some fled to the neighboring cities or regions in the neighboring countries refuges. The agricultural economy has collapsed; health care centers destroyed schools cannot safely open their doors. As a result of this crisis, the dreams and aspirations of many young Anglophones have been destroyed.
NB: It is worth noting that this crisis has been going on for 5years now and its effects keep multiplying as time passes.

Objective of this project
Youths Makes a Difference (YMD) has decided to extend a helping hand to the internally persons (IDPS) affected by the Anglophone crisis by giving them a start-up capital for a small business. This will enable young people victim of this crisis to start small businesses in order to enhance their living standards , be productive in the society, be entrepreneurs, help their communities, reduce unemployment and avoid these youths from engaging in negative activities like prostitution, arm robbery, scamming etc.

Approach
YMD will be launching a project in the month of June aimed at empowering economically, the internally displaced persons affected by the Anglophone crisis. This project consists of the IDPS coming out with project plans for small business (not more than 50.000 Fcfa as capital). These projects will be presented to the general public (through our social media platforms) and members of jury and the best ten (10) or more depending on The funds raised, will be selected and given a YMD cheque from 30,000 to 50 000FCFA each.
It should be noted that this money shall not be given in cash directly to the candidate rather the YMD team in Cameroon will accompany each candidate to get the materials required for the start-up. Also a training session will be organized for the winners on business in order for them to have some knowledge and skills as far as business is concerned. There will also be a follow-up to ensure the progress of the candidates business.

Target participants
Internally displaced Persons from North West and South West regions.
17 to 38 years old
Unemployed IDPs
Registered IDPS in their current cities

Expected Results
New startup businesses for young IDPS from the NW & SW regions of Cameroon.
Increase in the standard of living of IDP families
Participation of IDPS in the economic activities of Cameroon
Growth of the startup businesses so as to create employment for other youths in the future.
Participation of IDPS in community activities, thereby giving back to their communities.

Back to school -  Nigerian project

Education is considered a universal human right, as well as an issue of public good and responsibility. .......
Education is considered a universal human right, as well as an issue of public good and responsibility. However, there are still many — particularly children in developing African countries — who do not enjoy this right. It is still common in many areas to find children in farms, on the streets etc instead of attending school. Some countries still lack proper school structures. Many schools don’t even have desks , good toilets, as well as learning materials from our survey especially in the villages. As a result, YMD, CJ Fitness and African Diaspora community in Russia decided to organise a back to school project 2022 in Nigeria.

YMD is an international youth organisation that has as vision “ To boost the Innovative potential of young people in order to attain sustainable economic development in their community”. As an organisation, YMD advocates for United Nations SDG 4, Quality Education. We believe that obtaining quality education is a foundation to improving people’s lives and sustainable development. On the 14th of December 2022, our team visited Holy Trinity nursery and primary school  Aiyepe Odogbolu local government, Ogun state Nigeria. A total of 60 school bags were donated including school materials inside (books, pens, pencils, etc) to the best pupils in each class as well as the less privileged kids. Added to that 30 desks were given as a way to provide a comfortable learning environment for the kids.

We also visited Aiyepe community grammar school were 2 classrooms were painted still with the aim of providing a smooth learning environment for the children. YMD takes the opportunity to thank all the stakeholders I’m this project. We thank all those who donated in one way or the other for this project. We are grateful and all the kids say thank you. YMD, making a difference is our lifestyle 🇳🇬🇳🇬. Till then we can’t wait to implement more projects in our continent Africa.
